Any Ideas how to decorate a table w/hydrangeas for an adult female birthday party.?

There are several ways you can do that. Use a shallow dish ( about 3" deep ) and cut the flower heads with a 4 to 5 " stem. Cut the leaves with a short stem as well. Use 3 to 5 flower heads ( never an even # ) depending on how big the dish is around and make a triangle or star shape with the flower heads then add the leaves around the edge.

Or you can cut the stems longer and use the floral foam ( the green stuff in the bottom of flower arangements ) and do a similar thing only in a taller container.

You can use as many flower heads as you want but since they are big you really don't need that many to make an impact.

It depends on what type of tables you have.

For round tables, I'd go with a simple clear glass Bubble bowl with a tight mass of hydrangia. Swirl some curly willow or some sort of vine in the bowl (take off any green leaves). You can also add interesting things like river stones, cranberries, small fresh peppers or anything else "waterproof" into the water for interest.

For a long table(s)- find several small containers. I like terracotta pots, they are cheap and easy to find. Or silver mint julip cups are nice... anything that you can put a "liner" into or is waterproof and you cannot see through it. Next, cut some florist "oasis" foam to fit snugly into each container (make sure you have soaked the foam in water for awhile to absorb fully) Then, cut the hydrangia down VERY short- you may even have to cut the head apart depending on how large the hydrangia is and the size of the containers... arrange each one seperatly. Cover all visible foam. Arrange all the containers straight down the center of the long table. Interdisperse with fresh fruit like green apples or oranges, or votive candles if it's an evening party.

For a "buffet" table- A nice basket with a waterproof liner filled with floral foam is great. You can just pile in the hydrangia massively. It's nice if you can add some roses in there for color and texture. You can also add fruit like, green apples! Just pop them on a stick (or straight branch) and put them in the arrangement! it's best to cluster the apples and or roses, for a "natural" look...

If you have any technical questions regarding the care of the flowers or the mechanics of the assembly, just email me. I'll give you more info!

Have fun and good luck!
Reply:Hydrangeas are beautiful flowers. Arrange some in a clear vase. Just mass them together in seveal vases. Use a lavender and pale green color scheme for the party. If the hydrangeas are pink, use pink and white.
Reply:Float them in bowls of water..
